Trivia
- "Night Light" was set in motion by a doodle of a monster the author
made on an envelope while talking on the telephone.
- This story is connected to the earlier short story "The Ghost in the Olive Grove" by reference
to the character of Amy Bolton. While not yet confirmed by any of the fiction published, both stories are set in the Nightfire
Universe.
- In the June 5, 2005 From the Author's Desk blog entry, the author jokingly suggested
a sequel called "Night Light II: The Regurgitation." However, at the time, there was no intention of ever doing a sequel to
"Night Light."
Publication History
- "Night Light" was published on the author's Web site in February 2000 in .html format. It

- A second electronic edition of "Night Light" was published to GlennSladeClarkJr.com as a
.doc file on April 17, 2001.
- The third edition of the short story finally made the jump to .pdf eBook format on July 22,
2003.
- "Night Light" was reformatted for a fourth edition paperback release in June 2005. The paperback
was printed by CafePress.com.
- The fifth edition of "Night Light" was released in both eBook and paperback through Lulu.com
on December 16, 2010. This edition corrected some typographical errors held over from previous editions and retained
the logo from the fourth edition.
- The sixth edition of "Night Light" was released on October 10, 2011 for the Amazon Kindle
e-reader. It was released in all major e-book formats through Smashwords.com and as a Clark Ink PDF through Lulu.com on November
8 and in paperback (exclusively through GlennSladeClarkJr.com and Lulu.com) on November 14.
- On August 3, 2020, the 2011 PDF E-Book edition was made available for free at GlennSladeClarkJr.com.
- A video reading by the author was posted to his YouTube channel as Let Me Tell You a
Story (Episode 3) "Night Light," on December 1, 2021.
Alternate Cover Designs
"Night Light" did not recieve an official cover until the release of the Third
Edition eBook in 2003. Below are the covers from the 2003 eBook and the 2005 paperback. The major changes between the
two were the text font and trim size. For the 2005 release, the trim size was changed, and the font was boldened. Click the
